We have quite the bird life around the property, everything from the small Wrens to the occasional Wedgetail Eagle that soars on the thermals. The office windows are sometimes mistaken as being a through passage and every so often a poor bird is left sitting outside the office stunned as to why he couldn’t fly through. This isn’t always the case, as the Willy Wagtail likes to sit on the outside chairs and sing to his reflection, or the Eastern Yellow Robin will have a hissyfit at his reflection during mating season.
Just last week we heard this Azure Kingfisher bump into the office window. He didn’t hurt himself, as he quickly sat back up, but he did sit on the veranda for about 10 minutes getting his bearings. just enough time to get a photo. We don’t see that many Azure Kingfishers up near the office, as a pair of Forest Kingfishers nest in one of the nearby termite mounds. The Forest Kingfishers will claim all the fence posts below the office as theirs, as its a great hunting position for all the lawn areas.
